Reiki is a form of alternative therapy, and consist of the two Japanese words: "Rei," which means universal or spiritual, and "Ki," which means life force energy. Reiki practitioners believe that there is a universal life force energy that flows through all living things and that this energy can be channeled to promote healing and balance in the body, mind, and spirit. It is a relatively modern healing technique that involves channeling universal life force energy to promote balance and healing.   Reiki originated in Japan in the early 20th century with Mikao Usui.
